Rory Markas 1955-2010

Rory Markas was a talented, enthusiastic and spirited broadcaster that also announced college basketball for USC and worked as a TV news reporter for Fox News. Aside from his professional skills, he was admired as a quality human being. "I think now everybody should just celebrate what a good person he was," broadcast partner Terry Smith told AM 830, the Angels-owned radio station. He was native of San Fernando Valley, attending Chatsworth High School where he played baseball. He attended Los Angeles Valley College playing baseball there, as well, and finished up at Cal State Northridge. He was single and lived in Palmdale, California. Markas delivered his familiar "Just another Halo victory" call after every win. He called the final out of the Angels' 2002 World Series victory. "He was destined to make that call," said Angels spokesman Tim Mead told KNX 1070. "If we were down 10-1 or up 10-1, he'd make the game entertaining."
